If you get the Balance Pack, when the Virus comes, your MachGaogamon should turn into a Gaomon.
Also, if you get the Pretty Pack, your Pandamon should degenerate into a Bearmon (they call it Kumamon in Dusk and Dawn). Then degenerate it into Wanyamon and digivolve it to Gaomon. That's what I did, now my Gaomon has high stats!
Also, in Chip Forest, on the dark side, you can get scan data for Bearmon. Then turn the scan data into Bearmon, degenerate, then digivolve into Gaomon.

Yes, once the virus gets mach gaogamon then he will become gaomon yes, once the virus gets machgaogamon (if you chose the balance pack.)
Pick the starter tsunomon (the stenth one) and digivole it. :-)
the only way to get one is to get the pack with MGaogamon at the beginning and as you go though the story it will automatically degenerate ( go to a lower rank).

You can find out if they have a type or not by going to the menu (press O ) , and go to Digimon either Digi-Beetle or Server (whatever one you wanted to check ) and select the digimon you wanted to look by pressing the X button . One of there stat's should say "Type" . There are Fire Water Nature Machine Darkness And digimon that don't have a specific type will say "none"
