Count Olaf is a fictional character in the 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'. After the main characters are made orphans he takes them in so that he can steal their fortune. He attempts to steal their fortune several times with many different plans, each time he was however, thwarted by the children.

It says something in the twelfth and thirteenth book about poison darts and how the Baudelaire parents gave a pack of poison darts to Beatrice. Also, Count Olaf said some thing about poison darts when he was threatening to kill the orphans. Obviously at this time Olaf wasn't born yet so Lemony Snicket defiantly was not born yet.
