Yes, bread can be given to chickens as a treat. Do not feed moldy bread to the chickens.

Chickens LOVE bread a lot, although you probably shouldn't feed it to them all the time - just as a treat or when you have some leftover. My chickens eat moldy bread too, with no ill affects at all.

Yes. Wheat and corn are a large part of all commercial feeds. If the hens are free range they will benefit from any gleanings in the fields after harvest. Hen scratch bought at the feed store contains a good amount of wheat in whole kernel form.
