3 out of our 4 hamsters make noises like that all the time! We researched it quite a bit when we first heard it to make sure there was nothing wrong, but everything we read supported what we thought... the 3 main reasons are as follows; # if they are afraid or unsettled they can make hissing or almost screaming noises - our youngest did this once when we first got her but she settled quickly # heavy breathing noises (almost like wheezing) our 3 syrians often do this when they are asleep or just waking up. It starts loud and gets quieter and quieter and can last up to a couple of minutes. I think it's just dreams # squeeking (my favourite) sometimes when we walk past a cage i hear a squeek - i look in the cage and they're sitting upright trying to get our attention... It means they want a treat or a run in the ball (but usually both) Hope this helps someone!
I am virtually certain that your hamster has a respiratory problem. This means the hamster is having great troble breething. The hamster will be in a lot of pain. It needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible as at this stage it is cruel to keep it alive. Other signs of this may be occasional squeeking. My main advice would be just to get him seen by a vet as soon as possible.
the hamster might be pregnant
it wants to be left alone
It might have had a stroke, see a vet quick!
It means it's lonely
dont bath another hamster again in my life
When a hamster is ill you have to watch out for eating less and drinking less, too much sleep, being less active, sneezing, shaking, vommiting, and wet bottom.Hope this helps.:)
There could be many things wrong. Normally when a hamster is ill it will carry on as normal. If it won't move around much its likely the hamster has something wrong with its stomach or intestines or any other organ. Its best to take the hamster to the vets as it could be in great pain. Its cruel to the hamster to keep him alive if he is very ill.
Get him to the vet ASAP. He may be having a seizure, which is life threatening. Search for an open vet and get him over there right away.
Bacon is shaking (:
He could be, or he needs a few days rest and relaxation, with fresh food and water. Hamdoc You could also try the vet if you feel the need to.
There are five common species of hamsters kept as pets: Syrian hamster, Dwarf Campbell Russian hamster, Dwarf Winter White Russian hamster, Chinese hamster, and Roborovski hamster. Each species has its own unique characteristics and care requirements.
Seriously ill: most likely a cold or wet tail (both of which can kill a little hamster if left untreated). Go take it to a vet ASAP. They can give medicine to put into the hamsters water.
