Please read First Corinthians, chapter 11 in The Bible. The main significance of wine to Christians is its representation of Jesus Christ's blood. Jesus himself explained to his disciples at their last supper together that the bread they ate was to represent his body and the wine his blood. He told them that they should always do this as a memorial to him after his crucifixion. " this do in remembrance of me". Today Christians call it communion or the Lord's supper. We eat a small peice of bread ( Christ's body) and drink a sip of wine or Grape Juice ( Christ's blood ) in remembrance of the great sacrifice he made for us. " His Life" Please read and study the scripture above though for a better understanding. Hope this helps you. == See related links on left== * Wikipedia:Eucharist * Wikipedia: Transubstantation

According to the bible, and Catholicism, wine is symbolized as Jesus' blood.

In the last supper, Jesus and his diciples ate bread and wine the night before he was crucified on the cross. He told them," Take this bread and eat it, this will be my body." and then he held up the goblet, and said "Take this wine and drink it, this will be my blood."
