On Mardi Gras, people eat pancakes!*This is only what I know of*I have never heard of eating pancakes, and I live in Baton Rouge. But, During Mardi Gras, lots of people in Baton Rouge, LA and New Orleans, LA, and Plaqumine,LA,we like to go and see parades. During parades, 100s of floats are oni every street corner. When you are at a parade, you get to catch things such as beads, t-shirts, cups, medallions, and lots of CANDY!! Also, one of the fun things about Mardi Gras is the KING CAKE!! King Cake is usually served at peoples homes and at parties. King Cake usually has cream cheese filling, with the colors green, yellow, and purple sprinkled all over it.And that's what I know about Mardi Gras.

New Orleans is the most famous city to hold elaborate Mardi Gras celebrations, but a lot of other cities and towns celebrate Mardi Gras. Basically it is NOT just a reason to party, but the premise is to indulge in things that you are going to give up for Lent. And don't forget your beads.
It's Catholic. It was to celebrate the day before Lent when all the meat had to be eaten, because you couldn't eat meat during Lent back then. They would have a big party and eat all of their meat
