Pink flamingos do actually get their pink color from eating shrimp and other foods that have the same chemicals that are found in carrots. Their body stores pigments in the skin and feathers from what they eat.

Yes they are... That is why you also see very light pink ones closer to the sea. They have alot of salt in there diet so it lessens the pink pigment of the feathers.
