No, dry kidney beans are seeds that need to be properly planted in soil to germinate and grow into a plant. The beans need moisture, warmth, and nutrients from the soil to sprout and develop into a healthy plant.
Answer:YesIt depends on what kind of RAW beans that you're using and what the weather conditions were when you're doing this experiment. When i did this, i used mung beans instead of lentils because they are easier to grow and doesn't need that much sunlight. But if by cooked beans, you meant the beans from the cans, well then NO, the will NOT grow ever because they are already processed and doesn't have the necessary cells to grow.

"All plants need light to grow" thats untrue. in my AP bio class we grew kidney beans in light and dark and they grew just as fast as each other
Beans need a loamy soil that is keep moist. Because beans have a shallow root system you will need to water them regularly and it would not be a bad idea to mend you soil with well rotted material. This will add nutrients to the soil and aide in their growth. I find beans will grow almost anywhere including window boxes. Just make sure they have a good support system (even the rails of a deck).
They need to be started in a wet napkin. When they start growing leaves/stems then plant in a pot with soil.
The pink beans that I grew out from (from a 1 lb bag of La Preferidas from the grocery store) were like half-runners or short pole beans. They need something to climb or they will sprawl on the ground.
