Hussein was a legitimate threat to the continuing power of the Umayyad Dynasty. In order to prevent Hussein from having any chance to become Caliph or a spiritual leaders strong enough to usurp the Caliphate through strength of will, Yazid I ordered his execution. It was a political move that is condemned today by nearly all Muslims regardless of whether they are Sunni or Shiite.
Husayn ibn 'Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (حسين بن علي بن أﺑﻲ طالب‎)‎ was born on 3rd of Shaban 4 AH - and was martyred on the 10th Muharram 61 AH; 8 January 626 AD - 10 October 680 AD). He is the son of the fourth Caliph Ali ibn Abou Talib and Fatima Al-Zahraa (daughter of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him).Imam Husayn fought the tyranny, as he refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid (the Umayyad Caliph and grandson of Abou Sufian) . He rose up to create a regime that would reinstate a "true" Islāmic polity as opposed to what he considered the unjust rule of the Umayyads. As a consequence, Husayn was killed and beheaded in the Battle of Karbalaa in 680 AD (61AH) by Shimr Ibn Thil-Jawshan.Shimr Ibn Thil-Jawshan was a soldier in the Ummayad army during the battle of Karbala, in southern Iraq that occurred in the year 680 AD. He was the maternal uncle of Abbas ibn Ali. Abbas ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib was loyal to Husayn and was a great and brave warrior.AnswerIMAM HUSSEIN was killed by the grand son of sufiyan who was the biggest enemy of the last prophet his name was yazid caused he wanted revenge
Shiites (not Sunni) Muslims flagellate, cut, beat or smear themselves with red paint on Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram, to empathise with Husayn (Muhammad's grandson) who was killed on Ashura. Husayn was killed because he refused to be obedient to Yazid, the second caliph and has since become a martyr to the Islamic religion. Husayn was a descendant of Ali, the forth caliph, and since Shiites believe that only descendants of Ali are entitled to rule the event is only important to Shiites, not Sunnis.
he was pious grandson of prophet Muhammad PBUH. he and 72 of his pious companions and his children and his baby all were killed in unfair Karbala battle by order of Yazid the Umayyad Caliph.
Master Chief killed him.
Husayn was the grandson of prophet and in Shia Islam considered the second infallible Imam after Ali (PBUH). Yazid was the Islamic Caliph (King) of that time and did not respect Islam laws. he drinked wine and played with dogs and many other sin of Islam. so Husayn (PBUH) invited people to make an revolution and change the government to a real Islamic Government. first people accepted and promised to help him. so he Immigrated by all his family and children from mecca to Kufa (the center of people who promised to support him). before reaching to Kufa the military of Yazid surronded him and killed him and 72 of his followers and all his family captured and the people of Kufa did not help him due to pressures and threats of Yazid. this made a high effect in history of Islam and the Muslims of all countries understood that there is two main different way in Islam and the Yazid Government is not the true Islam. actually Husain by his blood guaranteed the survival of true Islam.
