Where to find manual for problems wrong with the Richmond cedar works model 78?

Richmond Cedar Works is long gone. It was purchased
by Dimon (a tobacco leaf processor also located in
Danville, VA) in 1967. In 1990, Dimon sold it's
ice cream maker business to Rival Products (of crock pot
fame). The web site is www.rivalproducts.com,
customer service is 1-800-557-4825 (if that doesn't work,
try 1-800-546-5637).

Based on the above information I contact Rival, regarding obtaining a manual. There reply is as follows:

"Thank you for writing Rival; a division of Jarden Consumer Solutions.

Unfortunately, the manual you are inquiring about is not available from us. The information you received is incorrect, we do not own Richmond Cedar works We do apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but we do encourage you to view our current line of products at www.jardenstore.com. If you need assistance locating a comparable product, please feel free to call our customer service team at (800) 557-4825. We are open from 8:00am to 8:00pm, EST, Monday thru Saturday."

If you go to the Rival site their "Rival® 5 Quart Wood Bucket Ice Cream Maker Model: 8550-X" sure looks like the Richmond Cedar Works" model though so maybe the manuals are compatible

I have a Richmond Cedar works 5qt that the lid became brittle on. Searching for replacements was a trial and error thing. It turns out that the Rival 8550/2 lid will fit the Richmond Cedar Works 5qt unit. It is about 7 1/2" wide inside diameter and a little less than 7 3/4" outside. Expect to pay about $20 for a replacement on ebay.
