Osmosis says that water moves from areas of low solute concentration to high concentration, in order to reach a dynamic equilibrium. In other words, due to the fact that the jellyfish was placed in a hypotonic environment, or an area of low solute concentration compared to the jelly fish, its cells would be flooded with the fresh water and its cells would burst, causing the death of the jellyfish.

I'm assuming you're talking about osmosis. If osmosis didn't occur, then the saltwater salmon couldn't adapt to freshwater and would suffer from a lack of water and too much salt in the cells, and the freshwater salmon would have too much water and not enough salt in it's cells. The saltwater salmon would shrivel up in freshwater, and the freshwater salmon would burst in saltwater.
If a saltwater plant were placed in a freshwater aquarium, it would likely not survive due to the differences in salinity levels. Saltwater plants are adapted to living in environments with higher salt concentrations, and placing them in freshwater would disrupt their osmotic balance and lead to dehydration and eventual death.

The density and pressure of saltwater is different from freshwater as is much of the bacterias and parasites. The acidity of the water is also of concern as the lower the PH the higher the acidity of the water. Saltwater being of a higher PH would not handle the lower PH of freshwater very well. Also if moving a freshwater fish to saltwater that fish will lose a great amount of water in it's body causing death and if the saltwater fish is moved to freshwater it will gain great amounts of water causing death.
