Almost every family has a "traditional" recipe for stuffing. They can include: Breads - usually stale and often in crumb form- of any type including: corn bread, whole wheat, or herb breads. Meats -usually ground- such as sausage.

Fruits, nuts & vegetables - chopped and in some cases pre-cooked- such as celery, onion, potato, cranberry, apple, Prunes, pecans, chestnuts and/or walnuts.

Herbs & spices - both fresh and dried- savory, sage, pepper, thyme, onion powder, celery salt, rosemary, parsley, chive, and tarragon just to mention a few.

A chicken can be stuffed with 'stuffing' which is a mixture of herbs, breadcrumbs and meat (optional). It can also be stuffed with vegetables such as onions to add flavour to the chicken.
