"Fire cake" is a cooked mixture of flour and water with a consistency from flat bread to a light soup made by the starving soldiers at Valley Forge. Flour was the one of the last of their provisions, just before they had to eat their shoes!

He steals the cake because when they light the candles on top of the cake it was "on fire" Misha had never actually been to a party or seen a birthday cake, and on top of that fire! So, he interpruted the situation as the cake being on fire, so he picked it up and ran out of the house trying to be a "hero".

Is heating a cake a chemical change?

It depends on how the cake was before it was heated. If the cake was raw to begin with and the cake is baked, then yes, it is a chemical change because yeast is making the cake rise. If it was an already baked cake and you are just heating it, then I am not so sure. I don't think it changes at all. Then again, if you are burning the cake, I guess it is a chemical change because fire is making it burn.
