Pawpaws (also spelled paw paw, paw-paw, and papaw) grow from a tree and taste like a banana and a mango mixed. My dad found some in Illinois. I lived in southern Illinois on a farm and the fruit was growing wide. They're really good. :)
It can grow in southern Illinois, as well as the Pacific Northwest, California, and other parts of North America. It is the same fruit from the song "picking up Pawpaws row by row."
It looks very much like a short, round banana, but has a large spine of seeds. The seed is thin and round... about half an inch to an inch long by one eighth inch thick and spaced about a quarter of an inch apart or perhaps more. The last one I had was in the early fifties and later I left the area and have had none since.

pizza for what they sell and hut because that's what they called cooking areas for food like this in the old days in Europe.
Papa ordered the papayas because he wanted to plant them in their new home in California. He hoped that growing papayas would remind them of their life in Mexico and give them a sense of familiarity and comfort in their new surroundings. Additionally, papayas were a fruit that held sentimental value for Papa as it reminded him of his homeland.
The transcript in Mad Papa is that Papa was spoofed from Papa Smurf.
