He gave her twenty camels.

A camel was worth about 80 dirhams. Muhammad gave most of his other wives a dower of 400 dirhams, i.e. the price of five camels.

It is significant that Khadaija received four times as much dower as any of the others. Since Muhammad believed that it was ideal to have four wives, the quadruple dower was a sign that Khadija was to be his only wife as long as she lived.

N.B. In English, a "dowry" is not the same thing as a "dower". A "dower" (mahr) is what the bridegroom pays to the bride to be her personal property. A "dowry" is what the bride's father pays to the bridegroom to contribute to the expense of keeping her.

It is difficult to give a precise answer to this question because it is not known how many days were in the pre-Hijri year.

By whatever reckoning the early Muslims used, Muhammad was 25. This might be 24 in our years.

Many different guesses were made about Khadija's age. They ranged from 20 to 45. This suggests that nobody really knew.

The older ages were probably invented by the hagiographers to make her seem a "wise" woman. The traditional conclusion that she was 40 is unlikely, as she went on to bear Muhammad six children.

The most likely report on Khadija's age came from Muhammad's young cousin, Abdullah ibn Abbas, who was born in the year when Khadija died. He was close to Muhammad, so if he did not know, nobody does.

Abdullah says that Khadija married Muhammad when she was was 28, which may mean that in modern solar reckoning, she was actually only 27.

She was 45 years old when got married to prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Prophet Muhammad was 25 years old.

At age of 25, Muhammad (S.A.W) wed his employer, the 40 year old merchant Hazrat Khadijah. The marriage was both happy and monogamous; Muhammad would rely on Hazrat Khadijah in many ways, until her death 25 years later. They had two sons, and Abd Allah and Qasim , and four daughtersZainaz, Ruqaiiya,Umm Kulthum and Fathima. Hazrat Khadijah was a big strenght to Muhammed (s.A.W). She was the first lady who accepted Islam. Even after many years of her death when ever our beloved Prophet spoke about Hazrat Khadijah his eyes would be filled with tears.

Such was the love that our beloved Prophet possessed for His beloved wife
