Officially most are going to say just with other cichlids from the same area (SA, CA, African) but depending the size of your tank and temperament of your fish you can do things like plecos, other aggressive fish (leporinus or similar), bottom dwellers like catfish, arowana (if huge tank), and there are other possibilities that can be largely dependent on the individual tank. If you experiment think about these things when selecting a non-cichlid: 1) Size 2) Temperament 3) Swimming level (top, middle, bottom and try to mix these up) 4) Active periods during the day 5) Hiding places available.
If you initially introduce a new fish and your cichlids seem aggressive toward it try immediately rearranging the decor so there are no familiar established territories.
