When using dry herbs versus fresh herbs, a good rule of thumb is to use 1 portion of dry herbs for every 3 portions of fresh herbs. So, one tsp of dried tarragon would be the equivalent to 3 tsps. of fresh tarragon.
As a general rule, one leaf of fresh herbs chopped is equal to about one teaspoon of dried herbs. So one sprig of fresh basil is equal to one teaspoon of dried basil.

One small sprig of rosemary converts to 1/2 a teaspoon of dried rosemary.
A 3-4 inch sprig of thyme will produce a tablespoon, however, a dried sprig of the same length will produce barely a teaspoon.
