One can find a rum sponge cake recipe at their local library. Look under the cooking or recipe sections. Some library's may not have such books. A rum sponge cake recipe can also be found on cooking companies such as AllRecipes.
There's a reasonably good recipe here: http://www.overtherhine.com/orchard/lofiversion/index.php/t2203.html. The recipe forgets to explain that you brush the cake layers with the rum syrup, and add the straight rum to the buttercream once it is cool. I don't think the Bon Ton uses rum at all.

If you are cooking with it, of course. If you are using it in alcoholic beverage it will be quite difficult. It will take a lot more rum than rum extract if you are cooking with it though because rum extract is very concentrated and non-alcoholic.
