It is a misquotation of a 17th century remark by William Camden ". The proof of the pudding is in the eating". The original makes sense while the flawed remark is senseless. Its misuse is similar in that respect to other foolish utterings such as "irregardless" and "I COULD care less".

'The proof of the pudding' is an old English proverb which can be traced back at least to the fourteenth century. In full, it makes more sense: 'The proof of the pudding is in the eating'. It literally means you don't know how good a pudding is until you taste it, and is used to suggest you should test something yourself before you believe hearsay which says something is good, or bad. 'Seeing is believing (but actions speak louder than words) is a similar proverb.

Yes it is

What does that mean? This is an old proverb that has been clipped down from the original phrase which was:

"The proof of the pudding is in the eating."

It means that the true value or quality of something can only be judged when it's put to use or tried and tested (or tasted) and I don't mean instant pudding

How do you say The proof is in the pudding in Latin?

You don't. There is no such expression. The expression is "The proof of the pudding is in the Eating ( or tasting)." Proof in this sense means "test." So what we want to say in Latin is "The test of the food is the taste," or something like Sapor cibi temptatio. To maintain the sense and the alliteration:Signum in sanguiculo est.----------------------------------------------Explanation:sanguĭcŭlus , i, m. dim. sanguis,I. a blood-pudding, black-pudding, Plin. 28, 14, 58, § 209.sīgnum ī, na mark, token, sign, indication, proof :in+ablative = location
