Not even close. Western has a sweeter, bolder, and much fuller taste then Catalina. To say they taste the same would be to say a Bentley and a Saturn are the same.

Russian salad dressing is most likely healthier than Thousand island dressing.
Basically Russian dressing is a mixture of mayonnaise and ketchup whereas Thousand Island is the same base ingredients combined with pickles and sometimes chives or egg.
Western is a brand name, (it looks like they were bought out by Wishbone), but they are known for French dressing. I do not believe that they make any other flavors under the Western name. It's much sweeter than other French dressings. As a kid, Western was the only dressing I would eat and I became quite the expert. ;)
