Chocolate is toxic to cats. Chocolate can affect the heart and nervous system causing excitement / nervousness / trembling, vomiting / diarrhoea, seizures and muscle spasms. Sometimes, in really extreme cases, coma and death can also happen. The severity of the effects usually depends on the type of chocolate (Dark Chocolate containing higher amounts of theobromine and caffeine than Milk Chocolate, with white chocolate having the least amount), and how much the cat has eaten.
Ice cream in general should not be fed to cats. Most cats may enjoy the odd lick, but a cat's stomach is not designed to digest dairy products, especially the lactose present in products that use cow's milk, including ice cream. Lactose can cause some cats digestive upset. While a cat may enjoy a cold dairy product as a treat, it is highly recommended to avoid giving chocolate ice cream in any amount.

very good, ice cream and chocolate
while vanilla is not bad for cats, the lactose in the ice cream is bad for them. Even small quantities can make them sick (diarrhea, vomiting). large quantities, if ingested, will require a flush of there digestive system. if your cat is elderly refrain from giving them milk not specifically for cats. younger cats have a better immune system and will most likely recover before you notice they're sick. despite this you should still refrain from giving your cat lactose.

In moderate amounts there is nothing wrong with sharing a bit of your ice cream with your dog friend. Sugarless Ice cream would be better. Try to share any flavor other than Chocolate. Chocolate is poison to dog.
Ice cream is pretty bad for the dog already but chocolate ice cream is especially unhealthy. The cause of this is that chocolate contains an ingredient called Theobromine, which is toxic to dogs. However, if you do like to treat your dog with tasty snacks, I would recommend a brand of ice cream for dogs called Frosty Paws.
