Well since I have a 12 year old cousin, (auctually 14 but he acts like a 12 year old),He eats about 4 kilograms a day. So about only 2 kilograms. Because he is CRAZY when he eat at least 5 twinkies,2 doughnuts and a Hershey's chocolate bar, You have to stay away. I had to do a project, and i decide to do it on him. He actually eat 4.987654209 kilograms of sugar a day. So a 12 year old should only eat about 2 kilograms a day, 14 kilograms a week. I LOVE ANSWER QUESTIONS!!!!!
They need sugar as much as adults do (not more though, as often mistaken). Every person needs a daily amount of glucose which is found in many foods - fruit, vegetables e.t.c. But they don't necessarily need the "added sugar" (sucrose, dextrose) that is found in sweets which they love so much. It does harm to your organism - develops fat, cholesterol, damages your teeth etc, so you ought to avoid giving your child treats with high sugar content and try not to let him develop sweet-tooth.
