probably not, they dont like the cold much An avocado tree can survive occasional light snowfall, especially if it is a large, well-developed plant and the snow does not lay on the ground. However, the avocado is a tropical tree, and doesn't like the cold. It is prone to frostbite. I imagine that avocado trees planted in areas that receive heavy snow, or snow that lays on the ground for days at a time, would do very poorly and probably not survive.

I just heard Dave Flemming on the radio talking about the avocado tree. He said a groundskeeper discarded an avocado pit on the ground and a tree grew from that pit. They keep the tree trimmed really short so it doesn't show on t.v. behind the center field fence, but fans can see it from the stands.
