If you're defrosting it, I would say more than an hour. If you just baked a cake and its hot, I would wait about thirty minutes to an hour before eating it.

I'd also say putting it in the refrigerator for 5mins.

Cakes don't usually melt. If it is an Ice Cream cake it depends on the brand.

Why cool cakes?

If you frost a hot cake, the heat from the cake will melt your frosting. You should allow the cake to cool completely before frosting. Cake is delicious warm; if you aren't planning on frosting it, it's perfectly fine to serve the cake before it cools. Allowing a cake to sit and cool for a bit also helps the cake to hold together better.

Do you let a cake cool in the pan?

yes.

Why people spread out carrot cake that has just been fried?

Spreading out the carrot cake helps to increase the surface area of it. After being fried, the carrot cake is very hot and needs to cool down. It needs to cool down for 2 reasons. 1) To be eaten! 2) It will continue to cook with the heat and can then over-cook and not be good to eat anymore. The air around the cake is (supposedly) cooler. By increasing the surface are by spreading the cake out, you are increasing the amount of space that the hot cake is touching the cool air. This will allow the carrot cake to cool down faster.

People spread out the carrot cake that has been fried to cool it?

Yes, because spreading out the carrot cake increases the surface area. The cake is hotter than the surrounding air. If the cake has a larger surface area, that means that more of it is touching the cooler air so the cake will then cool down faster.

Does apricot jam on a cake board make a fruitcake go mouldy?

No, jam on a cake board would not make a fruit cake go mouldy. Keeping the fruit cake too long in a place that is warm and moist makes it go mouldy. Fruit cake should be stored in a tin in a cool, dry, dark place or refrigerated. Soaking a fruit cake with rum, brandy or other liquor also prevents spoilage.

You love coconut cake but the frosting starts disappearing into the cake after the first day Are there any recipes for a 7 minute divinity or marshmallow icing that stays on the cake?

well when the frosting starts to disapper it means that you are iceing the cake to soon the cake needs to cool for about 20min before iceing if you don't let it cool the frosting melts so i don't think it is the frosting that's the problem :)
