Doves often will not lay eggs unless they have a quiet, stress free, and a relatively private environment in which to mate. The amount consumed is small and the time it takes is long in the beginning. Usually it takes a week after they leave the nest before the babies will be pecking seeds.

usually it takes around 10 to 15 days for the hen to lay the first egg. then every other day after in till she has laid a full clutch consisting of 4-9 eggs.
