Hello, its fairly hard to tell if a tiger barb is male or female, but the best way that ive learnt how is when the males get excited their nose becomes dark orange to almost a red. So yeah, i hope this helps mate, otherwise u might want to contact a breeder that breeds them personally. Or maybe if ur aquarium doesnt know ask them for their supplier/breeder number to ask them urself. Anywho, I hope this helps :oD
i have had green tiger barbs for 12months and i have used the net to find out more info about them. the male green tiger barb has a thin orange to red line on its fin the female has none.
www.aquaticcommunity.com "Sexing Tiger barbs is not very hard, since the female Tiger barb is larger than the male and sports a rounder belly. The male have a distinctive red nose, and above the black part of his dorsal fin you can see a characteristic red line. The dorsal fin of the female is mainly black." I hope that helps.
The male tiger barb (Barbus tetrazona) has more red in the snout and ventral fin than the female when in breeding condition.
Tiger barbs (Barbus nigrofasciatus) are egg layers so they don't get pregnant. A male is required to fertilise the eggs as they are scattered by the female in order to make more youngsters.
A female Tiger is called a Tigress,
A tiger IS male - A tigress is the female.
umm.. just spitballing but I think a baby tiger
a male tiger is called a tiger and a female tiger is called a tigress.
