No. Homemade marshmallows are made using egg whites, Gelatin, and sugar. Commercial marshmallows likely use something artificial in place of the egg whites. Regardless, there is no milk in marshmallows.

Yes, the gelatin that creates the gooey texture of marshmallows is generally made from pig based products.

However you may be able to find non-animal based gelatin and marshmallow products in some health food or specialty stories.

These will probably contain agar-agar which is a seaweed based gelling agent.
