My mother was 3 years old in 1940 when she was badly burned by fallining into the pot in the fire. The doctor came three times a day to change her dressings and she remembers a neighbor, who had a shop, would come into her afterwards with a penny biscuit. She remembers them being oblong and thick. She never remembers having them again and she looked for them for years later.this was in Mayo.
