both. they can reproduce sexually and asexually. sexually by male to female and then the female lays eggs which she releases into the ocean. and asexually by replacing limbs. The new leg or antennae begins to grow inside the shell of the other leg. When the crab molts you can then see the new leg. Though as someone said the first few molts it may not be at full size yet. *molting is a process of replacing the exoskeleton
