Hermit crabs will eat anything that's not processed so here is a list of what they can eat:Alfalfa, chopped almonds, apple, apricot, artichoke, asparagus, bamboo, banana, barley, beans, bell peppers, blackberry leaves, blackberries, bloodworms (from the fish food dept.)Blueberries, broccoli, brown rice, cabbage, calcium powder (reptile dept.)cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, cereal (no sugary kids cereal, cheerios, cornflakes, bran flakes, etc.), cherry, cooked chicken bones (crushed), boiled chicken with no salt or seasoning, cholla wood, cilantro, clams, colver blossoms and leaves, coconut, cod liver oil, collards, corn, cornmeal, cranberries, prekilled crickets, crustaceans (ALL shrimps, lobsters, crabs, crayfish with shells on), cucumbers, cuttlefish bone (bird dept.) eggs (boiled or scrambled with no salt or pepper) eggshells, fish food flakes, fish flesh and skin, grapes, green beans, organic honey, kelp, kiwi, lentils, lima beans, mango, maple syrup, milk products(TINY amounts only every now and then, cheese, cottage cheese etc.) mussels, nettle (wilted), octopus, Oranges, oyster, papaya, parsnip, passionfruit, peaches, peanut butter, chopped peanuts, Pears, peas, pecans, pineapple, plum, popcorn (no salt or butter) pumpkin, raspberry, sand dollars, sardines, scallops, snails, spinachspirulina (fish dept.), squash, strawberries, timothy hay, tomato, tuna, walnuts, watermelon, zucchini.

Yes, in fact, they do, in captivity. Tomatoes, lettuce, small pieces of carrots, and such are good. For tomato, only feed the inside as it is softer, since most crabs don't eat the outside of the tomato-the red parts. For lettuce, do not feed the stems, only the softer pieces. And for carrots, it is best to feed the other two choices, as carrots are hard to digest, but still edible for crabs.

Yes, I've had this problem too. Lots of lotion and massaging worked well for me. My crabs loved to eat semen, it's very healthy and full of protein.
Hermit crabs can eat dark, green leafy lettuces, but not iceberg or head lettuce.
