The Kissing gourami (Helostoma temminckii) is of a completely different species from the Opaline gourami (Trichogaster trichopterus). They are totally unrelated. The Opaline is the same species as the 'Three spot, Blue, Gold, Platinum they are all colour sports and these can be bred together. However the cross you have mentioned can not happen. The name Gourami is a name that has commonly been applied to many fish of many unrelated species and in general means a fish that has a labyrinthine system for breathing.
My opaline male & golden female have been interacting as a usual couple for about 8 months since thier introduction & are now finally mating... hopefully they do produce young... I believe they are pretty much the same species genetically apart from the colour, so I should update this when the young ones arrive hehe...

By saying kissing fish do you mean Kissing Gourami? If the answer is yes, these fish are omnivore and in our home tank it will accept commercial food such as flakes, pellets and frozen food but if they will get their chance they will be happy to hunt and eat fry.
