You can bake it at 350 or steam it or even grill it ( my favorite.) To grill or bake coat asparagus in olive oil and sprinkle with an herb seasoning. Wrap it in foil or place it in a grilling basket. It take 10-15 minutes on the grill and about 10 minute in an oven.

Aside: As a prep to cooking it is good to remove the tough ends. To do this flex the stalk slightly, it wil snap cleanly at the tough/tender intersection.

Wash and trim tips of asparagus. Steam in a pot of water for approximately 6 minutes. Remove from pot and immerse in ice or pot of cold water as asparagus will continue to cook if not eating right away. It is better to eat right out of the pot for best firmness.

Here's a recipe Traditional Grilled Asparagus recipe :

The ingredients you need would be a pound of trimmed fresh asparagus, a cup of water as well as ¼ cup barbecue sauce. Now start by pouring the water in the skillet and wait for the water to get boiled. Put the vegetable in the water and let it boil for about 6 minutes. Drain and remove excess water from the vegetable. Set aside for five minutes.

Next, get a bowl and fill it with water. Soak wooden skewers in the water. Thread the vegetable into the skewers. Preheat the grill and arrange the vegetable in the perimeter of the grill. Brush the asparagus with barbecue sauce and gril it for about 4 minutes. Serve once done.

The flavor of asparagus can begin to fade as time passes. If you can't eat it right away, store asparagus in a sealed container in the crisper section of your refrigerator and make sure you use it within three to five days. If you have to hold onto the asparagus longer than a few days, placing the base ends in an inch of water will keep the spears hydrated and fresh in the refrigerator. The spears will continue to grow. To prepare, separate the spears and rinse well in cold water. Snap or trim tough, "woody" white ends off, close to the base of each spear. Leave whole, or cut each spear into bite size, 2- to 4-inch sections. Microwaving preserves the most nutrients and is really easy. Put the spears in a microwave-safe dish. Cover tightly and microwave about 5 minutes. To steam, bring an inch or two of water to a boil in a pot. Arrange asparagus in a steamer basket, making sure the water doesn't seep into the bottom of the basket. Cover and steam for about 3 minutes. To sauté, place the asparagus in a skillet or wok lightly coated with olive oil. Cover and sauté slowly on medium-low heat for about 3 minutes or until tender. To grill, lightly brush or spritz prepared asparagus spears with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, or garlic salt, to taste. Grill over high heat for 2 to 3 minutes, or to desired tenderness. To bake, arrange a bunch of clean and trimmed asparagus in a shallow baking dish. Top with salt and pepper to your taste preference. Bake until tender or crunchy, depending upon your preference, about 12 to 20 minutes.
