For many different reasons but my guess would be primarily to look 'cool' or to 'fit it'. Peer Pressure can be a major factor regarding younger people drinking. Companies have become wise to this however and many drinks are marketed to young people. WKD and Smirnoff Ice being two examples.
Sometimes they imitate parents or other adult relatives. If they are constantly exposed to grown-ups drinking, then their curiosity can get the best of them. After all if they see their parents drinking on a regular basis, it becomes the norm and they can't wait to try it.
Not all teenagers are bad
