Frozen food that has been thawed under refrigeration could be safely refrozen if it hasn't been sitting around too long, but the quality of the food will be diminished. Flavor and texture will be affected.
It might be better to cook the food before refreezing it. If you let your TV dinner defrost, it is best to have it for supper.
It is not recommended to eat any foods that have been frozen, thawed and refrozen. You can, however, thaw food, cook it, and then freeze it.
Food which has been cooked can be frozen, even if it was frozen prior to cooking. BUT Frozen food which has been thawed, but not cooked, should never be re-frozen. Nor should food which was cooked, frozen and thawed.
nothing should be "refrozen." once something is frozen and thawed it really needs to be cooked or you'd be running the risk of food poisoning
no
signs of defrosting is softness of meat or other food item, and able to move around and break.
yes
Renewable as it can be either refrozen, or frozen again
Hello,Can unsalted butter be refrozen? Thank you in advance. Dee Hayes
Thawed or partially thawed, and then refrozen. In many cases, the food will be spoiled, and in almost every case, the food will have been damaged in texture by re-freezing.
Once foods have been defrosted you can NEVER refreeze them! The chances of gicing yourself food poisoning is very high if you do that.
If the food has been thawed under refrigeration and has not started to spoil, food can be safely refrozen. Partially thawed can be refrozen, too. But the extra freeze-thaw cycle will cause degradation of quality. It might be better to cook the food, then freeze it.
