I use the $0.99 gallon of distilled water from the grocery store. One of my two male betas just passed today; he lived just shy of three years, and I've had my second for about six months and he's doing just fine. The water works for us :)

They are best in distilled water. Tap water or water containing chlorine are not good for them.

Can a crown tail bettas be put with a different kind of betta?

No! Betas are territorial fish. They will fight to death. You should also not keep them with any other kind of fish because it may stress your beta. If you have a large tank then a snail would be a good choice to put with your beta.

I have a guppy and i bought a 10 gallon tank and a beta fish.can i put them in the same tank?

No, you cannot put these two fish together. In general you should keep Beta's alone by themselves, not even with other Beta's. They are mostly kept in bowls without a light, a heater or an oxygen line. The Beta will kill your guppy.

How big of tank do you need to put a girl and boy beta in?

Can you put a snake or bamboo plant in your beta tank?

There are plenty of real water plants suitable for planting in a tank that is occupied by fish that will not place the fish at risk. Terrestrial plants do not belong under water. They will eventually rot and poison the water thereby killing the fish.

How much water is in a water tank?

What kind of tank? How much water is in it? Is there air in the tank? What fills the tank? What kind of pressure from where and what?answerIf the tank is gravity fed, multiply .431 times the altitude that the source is above the tank. For example, the reservoir supplying my domestic water system is approximately 200 feet higher than the valley floor I live on. My water pressure is slightly over 80 psi. If the tank is pump fed, and if you have no information on the pump, you will have to put a gauge on the system.

Can you put Maple leaves in your Betta fish tank?

Any kind of dead leaf rotting in the tank will poison the water and kill the fish. Maple leaves do not belong in a fishes water.

Your betta fish tank water gets bubbly and think Why is this?

If it is a male beta (long fins) then he is ready to mate. The bubbles you see are what he will, if mated, put the eggs into. there isn't anything wrong with the water, he's just horny. If it is a female's (short fins) tank, then there is probably a problem with the water.

What tye of fish can you put in the tank with your beta?

I have kept fancy gold fish that are around 2x-3x bigger then the beta fish in a 10 gallon tank. There are stories of fish being ripped apart. If you watch the tank after adding a beta you should be able to find out quickly. The less crowed the tank the better. Betas are very territorial of space.

What kind of conditions do water snails live in?

I recommend anything with water and space for the snails to eat. Basically any freshwater fish tank with be okay for the snails. I must tell you though, never to put snails in with beta fish because sometimes the beta fish will try to eat the snail so i recommend putting them in with goldfish or some other freshwater fish. I have a 10 gallon freshwater tank with a common goldfish and a golden inca snail and they live happily together. I hope this helps!

Should you put rock in a fish tank before you put water?
