Livebearers can and do hold on to their young and refuse to release them if conditions are not to their likeing. The commonest reason is too small accomodation. I would make sure that she is in a large enough container (tank) that is well planted and filtered so that she can understand that her young can/will survive. I would suggest at least a 10gal tank preferably larger.
Well...If they are Molly Babies, then they look as if they are dead babies named Molly! DURSH
Keep her in a separator and when the babies hatch remove her go two pet store and get special food
Molly Is Pregnant With Kevin
my yellow spotted balloon molly just had babies and some are black, some are dark gray and some are clearish silver so i would say no, they are different colors when born. but it will take a while for them to get their adult colors, a few months.
Yes, it can! I have researched quite a bit on freshwater aquariums as well as molly breeding and from my personal experience owning a gold dust molly and balloon mollies, they can interbreed within their species, my gold dust male impregnated my balloon molly, and her fry turned out to be a cross between the two types of fish, which were adorable! You want to check for signs of her being pregnant, their should be a triangular gravid spot near her anal fin which is darker then the rest of her body, as well as unusual behaviours such as swimming in one spot and hiding, you also should be able to notice a size difference in your molly. Well hope this helped, if you have any more questions ask away!
There are actually type of fish named balloon such as Balloon Molly. It is made through selective breeding of mollies that retain the balloon gene which results in a basically fat looking molly.
Mollys can breed with any other type of molly fish
