I feed my catfish macaroni, frozen peas should be fine for a catfish. If the fish cant swallow something, generally it cant fit it in its mouth. Plus, they swim in their own feces, vegetables won't harm it.

Why is your Calico Ryukin Goldfish upside down but it s not dead?

Your Goldfish probably has a problem with its swim bladder. It's may be what the goldfish is being fed that is causing the problem. There is not normally enough fibre in the food we feed our Goldfish. This can lead to constipation and pressure on the swimbladder, which is the organ that keeps the fish buoyant and upright. The fish floats upside down because of the pressure on the swim bladder. Frozen peas are the answer. Defrost them. Take off the outer skin and then crush the peas. Feed them to the goldfish. It may also help the goldfish to put it into a container with shallow water in it - use water from the fish tank. Feed it the peas. Hopefully you will see an improvement in a very short space of time.

What food do you feed goldfish?

There is a lot you can feed your goldfish. First, there are those fish foods at the petstore. Flakes and sinkable pellets. I recommend to use sinkable pellets, because flakes, I think, make the habbit of the goldfish gulping at the top of the tank, which is an unhealthy thing to do. If the goldfish gulp at the surface too much, feed them the insides of boiled frozen peas. I feed my goldfish lettuce sometimes, too. They actually eat it! Goldfish are omnivores, so feeding them vegetables and sometimes occasional live foods will make them healthier!

What to do if goldfish is constipation?

What should i feed a goldfish if i don't have fish food?

If you don't have fish food, you can feed a goldfish boiled vegetables like peas or zucchini, or small amounts of cooked rice. Avoid feeding them bread or other processed foods as they may not provide the necessary nutrients for your goldfish's health. It's important to get proper fish food as soon as possible for a balanced diet.

Why do your goldfish do long feces?

Long, stringy feces can be a clue in informing you that your goldfish has constipation. You can know this when the feces do not fall from the fish right away. To cure this, I suggest that you feed the goldfish the insides of boiled frozen peas for a few days. Eating too many fish food that are full of protein can be the result of constipation, like pellets.

How do you feed a fish a pea?

There are several ways you can prepare peas for your goldfish. These peas cure constipation, and I noticed that sometimes they can help cure swim bladder disease. Here are the two ways I saw on the web, but I prefer #2, though it takes more time, because they peas get way more mushier than #1:How to prepare peas for Your Goldfish:#1: The Microwave Way:Take the frozen peas from the freezer. Take the amount of peas you need. Replace the rest of the peas back into the freezer.Get a small microwave-tolerant bowl.Put some water into it. It can be hot water (if you want the peas to be mushier) or cold.Put the peas into the bowl with the water.Place the bowl with the peas and the water into the microwave.Microwave the bowl for 1-2 minutes.Take out the bowl.Squish the pea so the insides all come out. It should be considerably cooked or mushy. Seperate into small pieces and feed the insides to fish.#2: The Boiling WayOnce again take the frozen peas from the freezer and take the amount of peas you need.Put water into a pot.Add frozen peas into pot.Place pot with water and peas onto an electric oven.Boil until the peas look cooked and the water is boiling like crazy.Remove the peas from the pot and place onto another plate. You can let it cool down.Squeeze the insides of the peas out. Seperate into little pieces and feed to fish.So I always to #2, but if you don't have a lot of time you can do #1. It works. I just find that my goldfish eat #2 peas a lot more vigorously. =) I hope I have been some help! =)

What kinds of food is best for goldfish?

Most people feed goldfish fish flakes or pellets. This is fine, as they are filled with nutrients, but fish need variety in their diet like humans. You can feed them peas, lettuce, cucumber, and other vegetables.

What does a goldfish eat but that is not fish food?

Goldfish are omnivores, and they can eat lots of vegetables (but don't try feeding them any fruits...I never tried....but wouldn't it be weird to feed goldfish a mango or a peach?). Fish food is all protein, usually, and eating only fish food usually helps constipation happen to your poor goldfish. Imagine humans eating only meat! So I always feed my goldfish pieces of lettuce and the insides of cooked frozen peas. They make my fish healthier. Though I have never tried, some goldfish owners feed their goldfish live food, like those tiny shrimps. It is healthier for your goldfish to eat a wide variety of good, not only fish food.
