Sharks kill an average of about 4 people each year.
Sharks. Sharks kill most people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edit: It is NOT sharks. In 2009, humans killed many millions of sharks, perhaps 100 million. There were 5 known fatal attacks by sharks on humans. Dogs, elephants and hippopotami, among others, kill more humans than sharks. Humans also suffer fatal snake bites every year. Anfd if you include killing by spreading disease, you'd have to include the mosquito, which infects humans with malaria, killing thousands.
Great white sharks are not common predators of humans. Every year there are about fifty total attacks from great white sharks with only three being fatal.
1,000 humans
Sharks and alligators combined kill fewer people than dogs. Dogs are responsible for more fatal attacks on humans each year compared to the combined number of fatal attacks by sharks and alligators.
Over 400,000 shark been killed by humans each year now sharks are endangered species
The amount of humans killed by sharks in a year in the US is 10-20. the amount of sharks killed by humans in a year in the US is 200,000. THATS A LOT!!! -Kitty
Yes, hippos are estimated to kill more humans per year than sharks. Hippos can be aggressive and territorial, especially near water sources, leading to deadly encounters with humans. Sharks, on the other hand, are responsible for a significantly smaller number of fatal attacks on humans annually.
Since Whale sharks are so large, they don't have very many predators. The only major predator is us. We humans kill tens of thousands of sharks every year for the fin trade.-----------------------------------An adult whale shark has no predators but juveniles are predated by other sharks and even marlin.
It legal to kill sharks, but this depends on the species and location. Some species are endangered and some areas(eg national marine areas) are protected.Other than that if you catch it you can kill it.Just remember that sharks are very important to the food chain. Also they are being over harvested in many areas and are close to extinction. Not to mention sharks are not even a threat to humans. Only 5 humans die each year by shark attack, whereas every year humans kill about 2 000 000 sharks. Compare that to starvation: 1 million people die by starvation each year. Sharks also typically don't attack humans. They fear US not the other way around. They are very picky eaters and will only eat seals and fish (unless they are starving but this is unlikely as where sharks live fish are plentiful)It is highly recommended to not kill sharks.
Killer whales are not considered dangerous to humans and do not prey on humans. There are accounts of killer whales turning on their keepers in Sea-world etc but these 'attacks' are extremely rare and the killer whale's in these instances did not attack the humans for food, more likely the attacks were due to frustration at being kept in captivity. Killer whales are quite capable of attacking and killing humans but choose not to, we are simply not on the menu. Sharks on the other hand are less fussy about which animals they prey on and if the shark is big enough and of the predatory variety then humans can be very much on the menu. Great whites, Bull sharks, Tiger sharks and Mako sharks kill between 3 and 4 people every year. When you compare this number to crocodiles who kill around 3000 people a year or tigers who kill hundreds of people a year it is quite clear that sharks have an undeserved reputation and the movie Jaws has a great deal to do with this.
By humans killing and poaching. Killing sharks and whales will change the entire food chain since they are at the top. 23,000 dolphins are killed a year, sharks kill 5 people a year, that's less then soda pop machines
