Generally people feel they need to rob a bank in desperation when they need a large amount of money that they would not be able to acquire otherwise. Also some people just do it out of greed and stupidity thinking that it may be easy or they could get away with it which in a lot of cases isn't true as most/all banks have high security and safety measures installed to stop this from happening.
As with virtually all corporations, the people who run banks are motivated primarily by profit and, when taken as a whole, are quite willing to resort to unethical or underhanded methods of maximizing profits. A number of banks have an enormous amount of power and so make it difficult to regulate them.

Ask them or rob them. Simple.
Banks make money by lending money to people and charging people for borrowing. The amount banks charge is called interest. Banks borrow money from other people and pay them interest on the amount borrowed. Banks charge more interest on the money they lend than they pay one the money they borrow. That is how they make money. When people deposit money with a bank, the bank is literally borrowing money from some people so they can lend it to other people. That is why banks pay interest.
