The TransUnion dispute revolved around how the organization sold marketing lists to businesses. In a nutshell, there were concerns around the following:

(1) What information was being used to help filter names and was that information considered private

(2) What information was provided in a marketing list to a buyer and was any of the information provided considered private

(3) Where buyers of marketing information qualified to receive the information sold?

The lawsuit against TransUnion, focused on violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, resulted in a settlement whereby affected consumers would receive up to nine months of free credit monitoring.

How do you correct your credit report if you have paid off all your debts about 6 months ago but some are still marked as unpaid?

Dispute! Write a dispute letter to the CRA's. Then they have to investigate within 30 days. OR, join the 30 day credit check programs they have on line (I did)and then you can call them and instigate a dispute. It has to be one of the three, though(Equifax, Experian,Trans Union). The offshoots can't help you with personal credit problems. I'm speaking from personal experience. After the 30 days, cancel. Good luck!
