If you are getting a Federal Student Loan credit is not an issues. I just got a Federal Student loan and my credit is BAD!!! The thing is, is that it's a Federal Loan so you will always owe that money, even if you claim chapter 7 or 13. I was worried about that too, but I got one just fine.
"People that want to claim the Hope Credit on their taxes must follow the certain rules. It can only be done in the first two years of college, student must at least be a half time student, cannot be used for tuition that was paid for using scholarship funds, grants or employer money and the student must have no felony drug convictions."
You cannot do this. Some companies will claim that they can, but it will only be a temporary, fleeting action. Your money will not be returned.
I have been considering claiming bankruptcy for quite some time now. I have no money and am a student. I was injured on the job a few years back and am going to be receiving a settlement offer from the worker's compensation company soon. The settlement would pay half of my credit card debt. Should I try to settle with the credit card company for less than I owe? Or should I still claim bankruptcy like I was planning originally? If I claim bankruptcy, will the money I get from the settlement be up for grabs? If so, can a bankruptcy lawyer negotiate a settle-for-less deal? Help!
There are a number of benefits with using a corporate credit card. The company benefits from being able to monitor what their employees are spending money on and the employees get the benefit of not having to pay expenses with their own money and then having to claim it back.

Yes, they are a creditor that can make a claim on your estate.

There are other factors, such as how much you earned, whether someone can claim you as a dependent and how much money was withheld.

Your VA disability to my knowledge is untouchable to all creditors, to include child support, and student loans. Your student loans will affect your credit report negatively until it is in good standing. It will never go away or default. You can not claim it on a bankruptcy either.
