In traditional Medieval romance versions, Gaheris kills his mother when he finds her in bed with Lamorak, her much younger lover. Gaheris is incensed that his mother loves the son of Pellinore--who had killed King Lot many years before. Lot being Morgause's husband and the father of 4 of her sons, including Gaheris. (Morte d'Arthur and Vulgate cycle)
I believe TH White is the first author of modern Arthurian fiction to change this and has Agravaine guilty of matricide by beheading her.
In some versions, her son Agravaine in others her son Gaheris
Morgause I have read stories about Morgan being his mother and raising him, but it is usually Morgause as the above states.
morgause
Her name is pronounced "MOR goz". !
Morgause, the North Witch.
Sir Mordred was the son of Morgause (also known as Anna). Morgause was the half-sister of Arthur, having been the daughter of Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall and Igraine (whom Uther Pendragon took for his own after defeating Gorlois). It is speculated in some writings that Morgause and Arthur were not aware of their relationship at the time of Mordred's conceiving. As with all Arthurian legends there are numerous different interpretations of the story.
Mordred was the son of King Arthur and his own half sister, Morgan Le Fay. The primary reason Arthur killed him was that they met on opposite sides of a battlefield and it was kill or be killed. Arthur himself received a mortal wound in the encounter. More generally, Mordred was in rebellion, trying to sieze the throne for himself.Morded's mother was Morgause, not Morgan le Fay.
This is disputed.. it was one of the Duke or Tintagel's daughters. Either Morgause or the infamous Morgana le Fay.
A lot of people say that yes, Morgan the Sorceress was Mordred's mother. She had an affair with King Arthur, her half-brother. Others insist Morgan's sister, Morgause, was Mordred's mother. I like to think it was Morgause, because Morgan is my favorite character and not the kind of person who would have an affair with somebody.
Mordred isn't Morgana's son, he is Morgause's (Her Half Sister.) and Arthur's (Her Half Brother.). Mordred eventually kills Arthur in a battle.
Some are: Morgause, Gawaine, Agravaine, Gareth, Gaheris, Pellinore, Pellinore's son, Pellinore's daughter, Lamarck
In most Arthurian tales, Mordred is King Arthur's illegitimate son by his half-sister Morgause. He was a traitor and fought and died at the Battle of Camlaan.
