Preciosa: The little gypsy girl who turns out to be of "noble" origins. She's described in very good terms throughout the novel, meaning she's sort of "perfect" among her gypsy crowd. Her beauty is well known and she stands out everywhere.
The Grandmother (Old Gypsy): She raised Preciosa as a gypsy and the girl grew up calling her grandmother, she cares for her until the end, when it is revealed that she (the grandmother) robbed the girl from the real parents.
The Suitor (Don Juan de Cárcamo or Andrés): He's in love with Preciosa and proposed to her. He's from a nobel family and is destined to go to the military. He goes flees with the gypsy caravan as soon as he can and they promise him Preciosa's hand, although they get married at the end, when the girl reunites with the parents.
