The definition of transition as a feature of literature does not take on any additional meanings, it still remains as a transition as it would in any other subject. To elaborate: when we use transition in literature the purpose is to connect two fundamental ideas, the purpose being to find commonality within them and connect them. Transitions are, in other words a link between two thoughts; this may not be evident to the reader and that is therefore the need to logically transition from one idea to the next.
Depending on the purpose of the literature, this can be accomplished in many different ways. The most common is essentially using transition words/sentences to transfer from one paragraph to another.
