place value is the place of the number in reference to the decimal point, either to the right or left by how many places. face value refers to the number diregarding the positive or negative
I know of two ways to do an About Face; one was used in a band or drill team. Standing at Attention, take the Right foot and place it behind the Left foot and a little to the left. Turn on the ball of the Right foot and the heel of the Left foot and spin around 180 degrees, so your heels meet together. if your heels are not touching after completing it, then you placed your Right foot in the wrong position before turning. You should be able to do the turn in a 2-count move. About Face---1---2.
Align the numbers according their place values. Go from left to right (decreasing place values) until the face values of the numbers are different. Then the number with the larger face value in that place is the larger number.
