Ok, as a writer I say that "intro" is so important because it captures the attention at the beginning of the story (or essay).

For example: if you start a story with 'Ella rushed passed a street light,as the dark night creeped around her'. is more interesting then 'there was once a girl named Ella, and she was afraid of the dark'

You see my point?

Now I'm not saying it's not okay to begin your story describing the charactor, I just personally find it more interesting when a story starts in the middle of something happening to the charactor...that's just my opinnion
