In Act 1, Benvolio suggests that Romeo should check out other girls as a remedy for moping over Rosaline.
Benvolio suggests that they attend the Capulet party to compare Rosaline to other women so Romeo can see that there are others who are just as beautiful.
Benvolio tells Romeo that Rosaline will be there, and Romeo can look at her all he wants when he is there, and he can wallow in his misery at being rejected by Rosaline.
Romeo wants to crash the party because he knows Rosaline is invited. Benvolio wants Romeo to go, hoping he'll see a girl who will take his mind off of Rosaline. Does he ever.
Rosaline. The last they heard, she was the one Romeo was after.
Benvolio believes that Romeo will get over Rosaline because he has seen Romeo quickly move on from one love interest to another in the past. Benvolio also thinks that by introducing Romeo to other women and distractions, he can help Romeo shift his focus away from Rosaline.
well in act 1 benvolio is telling romeo to confess whats wrong and he was sad because rosaline didnt want to be with him... Benvolio tells him to forget about her and go to a party which a capulet servent accidentally invited them(the enemy)
Benvolio was planning to go to check out the girls. He talks Romeo into coming because Rosaline, the girl who refuses to listen to Romeo's protestations of love, will be there, partying it up. Romeo's intention is to hang around Rosaline, but Benvolio is hoping that some other girl who is at the party will make Romeo forget about her. This is a plan which is more successful that Benvolio can imagine.
He loves Rosaline, but Rosaline does not love him.
Benvolio suggests that Romeo attend the Capulet's party so he can compare other beauties to Rosaline and realize that there are many other beautiful women in Verona.
By getting him to crash Capulet's party, where he will see women even better than Rosaline that will make his "dove a crow". It works a little too well.
Romeo is upset because Rosaline does not care for him.
