Romeo would have worn a fitted doublet top, with cap on his head and hose. Some might call them tights today. The style of the time was for men to show their vitality through their attire.

This was in contrast to womem who wore long dresses and gowns. Women did not wear hose.

The scene would be opposite from current social norm today where many women wear tights in society. Instead it would be men in yoga pants.

In Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet," Juliet is famously described wearing a white gown during the balcony scene in Act 2, Scene 2. White symbolizes purity and innocence, reflecting Juliet’s character and the themes of young love in the play.

She wears a headdress and half apron. She dresses like a maid or servent because people of this time that were of the lower class were expected to dresslike this. The reason they were expected to dress this way is because if they dressed moreso like the upper class they would be shunned by the others. They would be shunned because everyone else would think that they thought they were better than others, when in reality they hadnt accomplished anything.
