While I'm sure answers will vary, the basic needs are an inciting or initial incident which sets the story in motion; a series of events making up the rising action which include obstacles or complications for the main character; the climax which is the highest point of dramatic tension...the top of the typical inverted V diagram; the falling action which is normally considerably shorter than the rising action and ties up all the loose ends...what happens now; and the conclusion...sometimes known as the deneoument. suspense.
