Comparing a juvenile fantasy to a Homeric war saga is really stretching the fabric! All of the characters in The Odyssey of Homer are-Adults. it has actual combat and warfare going on as well as supernatural magic and Good ( usually) characters like Circe, the Enchantress.- but you are way off, getting l000 feet of superheat of each cloud- way out.- also flight plays no role in the Odyssey, but Dorothy both entered ( cyclone) and returned from oz ( Balloon) through the air.
